Frequently Asked Questions |
How should I
prepare for my first visit? |
To best prepare for your first visit, it is a good idea to arrive
approximately 15 minutes early for your appointment. This will allow
time to fill out any remaining paperwork. You should bring a copy of
your insurance card if your insurance is covering the cost of therapy
as well as photo identification and a copy of your prescription if
provided by your doctor. You will be asked to fill out intake forms
concerning contact information, health background and HIPAA privacy
forms. These forms can be found
here if you would like to fill them out before your first
appointment. |
What happens during my first visit? |
The first visit is reserved for evaluation of your current condition.
The therapist will ask questions concerning your medical history,
current condition, pain intensity, current limitations, goals for
therapy and medications, tests or procedures related to your current
condition. Measurements will be taken as they relate to your current
limitations. With the information gathered, a plan will be developed
with the input of you, your physician and your therapist concerning
frequency and duration of therapy as well as how to best maximize your
rehabilitation to get the best possible outcome. |
How long do therapy sessions typically last? |
Therapy sessions typically last between 30 and 60 minutes, but are
variable depending on each patients' specific needs. |
Who will see me for my therapy sessions? |
You will be seen by one of our licensed, highly-trained therapists for
the evaluation and for subsequent visits. At ARC Therapy, you and
your therapist will agree on a specific plan of care and work together
to achieve each of your goals. Instead of seeing a different
therapist each visit, we promote development of a one-on-one
relationship between the patient and the therapist who best knows your
current condition. |
How should I dress for my therapy sessions? (Physical and
Occupational/Hand Therapy) |
You should attempt to wear loose fitting, comfortable clothing in
which you can expose the body part to be treated if necessary. Often
times athletic shorts and t-shirts or tank tops are most comfortable
for the treatments and exercises performed during each of the
sessions. |
Will insurance cover my therapy sessions? |
In many cases health insurance will pay for all or part of your
therapy sessions. If you have any concerns regarding health insurance
coverage or whether or not your insurance plan is accepted at ARC
please contact us at (805) 434-4885 for further information.
